1. Filename
Name the file with the following pattern: <English file name> <dot> <ISO Language Code> <dot> md
(see this list of language codes on Wikipedia, column 639-1), for example:
index.md
-> for the Korean translation:index.ko.md
index.md
-> for the German translation:index.de.md
tools-techniques.md
-> for the Japanese translation:tools-techniques.ja.md
2. Header Area
In the header area (between the first line ---
and another line consisting only of ---
):
- Translate all the values (that is everything after the colon
:
), this will mainly considertitle
,nav_title
andfooter
. - Update the
last_updated
date. YYYY-MM-DD (Year-Month-Day). - Change
lang
to the ISO code for the language you translate to. (en
= English,ko
= Korean, see this list of language codes on Wikipedia, column 639-1). - Append the language code to the
permalink:
. For example:parmalink: "/business-case/"
has the following permalink in japanese:parmalink: "/business-case/ja"
(important: don’t add a closing/
after the language code) - Add your name as a translator.
