Recent spec changes
Landed
- Thanks to Mark Foltz who started drafting the algorithms section of the specification.
- Edited algorithms for availability,
- starting,
- joining a presentation session
- Dominik rebased and edited on top of that,
- rewording availability/discovery,
- unifying terminology (browsing context / page, presentation, presentation display)
- adding terminology links
- fixing up xrefs (See Anssi's contribution notes)
- Anssi suggested to follow the conventions that other specs use and merge the algorithms with the sections in which we define the IDLs and the actual properties and methods.
- Dominik edited accordingly, start & join algorithms moved to the
NavigatorPresenation
API section, etc.
Important Open Issues, contributions welcome
- We need to flesh out the teardown/closing behavior https://github.com/w3c/presentation-api/issues/35
- Started discussion thread on this started by Mark https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-secondscreen/2015Jan/0012.html
- native teardown vs. application level signal
- avoiding orphaned presentations
- Started discussion thread on this started by Mark https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-secondscreen/2015Jan/0012.html
- We need to describe the message exchange more precisely https://github.com/w3c/presentation-api/issues/46, and we should consider whether other data types are acceptable for postMessage (Ongoing Mozilla implementation work seems to indicate they find that useful.)
- We need to clarify the behavior of the presented page/receiver side, experiment with the implementations, make it consistent.
