[28/05/2018 13:12:30] Julia Bosque-Gil: Attestations (with bib ref.) vs. Usage Examples (e.g. provided by the editor). Discussion on whether an Attestation class would be necessary or UsageExample would suffice.
[28/05/2018 13:13:42] Julia Bosque-Gil: Ilan > We also have cases in which there are examples (extracted from a corpus) but no bib pointer is given
[28/05/2018 13:14:38] Julia Bosque-Gil: Quotation -- from a corpus. Quotation and bib ref = attestation
[28/05/2018 13:15:09] Julia Bosque-Gil: UsageExample -- can be provided by the lexicographer
[28/05/2018 13:16:53] Julia Bosque-Gil: human made examples (inspired by corpus, provided by lexicogr.) vs. extracted literally from a corpus with bib
[28/05/2018 13:18:14] Julia Bosque-Gil: Everything can be attested in the database, but the end-result might not include those bib refs
[28/05/2018 13:19:25] Julia Bosque-Gil: UsageExample as provided by Lexicographer NOT EQUAL to Quotation (attestested but without including bib refs)

[28/05/2018 13:35:44] Julia Bosque-Gil: Citation - act in which you refer to another doc
[28/05/2018 13:43:15] Julia Bosque-Gil: Fahad> Attestation -- gives proof for a sense/form/lex. properties in a corpus. A corpus attests something, etc.
[28/05/2018 13:47:43] Julia Bosque-Gil: Are there citations in dicts for a purpose other than providing proof that a sense/form/etc. exists?

[28/05/2018 14:04:38] Julia Bosque-Gil: To-do. Write down the different views that everyone has in order to reach an agreement on what we want to model exactly.

[28/05/2018 14:09:53] christian.chiarcos: Hi all. A voice from the off: "Are there citations in dicts for a purpose other than providing proof that a sense/form/etc. exists?" A similar use case is compiling glossaries. These aim to provide an exhaustive full list of all attestations in a particular source. This is not the same as providing proof for a sense/form/etc., but somewhat akin to a KWIK view in a corpus.
[28/05/2018 14:25:49] Fahad Khan: "Are there citations in dicts for a purpose other than providing proof that a sense/form/etc. exists?" Yes, for comparing with citations that attest lexical properties
[28/05/2018 14:25:56] Fahad Khan: for contrast
[28/05/2018 14:26:38] Fahad Khan: in print dictionaries they use cf. the different views that everyone has in order to reach an agreement on what we want to model exactly.
