Success Criteria
2.1.3 Avoid Keyboard Traps: If keyboard focus can be moved to a component using a keyboard interface (including nested user agents), then focus can be moved away from that component using only a keyboard interface. If this requires more than unmodified arrow or Tab keys (or standard exit methods like Escape), users are advised of the method for moving focus away. (Level A)
Tests
Test Procedure 1
- Open a test document that contains a keyboard trap (a link with Javascript that always returns focus to the link)
Sample HTML test document: Sample page with keyboard trap - Connect a keyboard (corded, Bluetooth-connected, etc.) or keyboard emulator.
- Navigate using the keyboard to the keyboard trap.
- Check that you are able to use the keyboard to move the keyboard focus away (e.g. by a shortcut to move focus to the UA user interface, etc.).
Expected Results 1
- Check #4 is true
