Notes on the WCAG Technique Sections

  • Applicability: no change
  • Description: may need updating to reflect the different ways mobile UA implement form, elements such as select in system widgets. Widgets may have default controls to cancel or submit that may be in conflict (or cover up) author specified submits. They may also lack submits, offering select options as an overlay without explicit submit, and a different way to cancel (e.g. via the system-provided back button). Tapping aon the option in an overlay may be seen as equivalent to selecting an option in a select and then confirming it with a separate submit button. Needs som careful exploration of mobile browser implementations of selects with and without explicit submit.
  • Examples: Add mobile specific example
  • Related: no change
  • Tests: The part "...and provides some information about the nature of the invalid entry and how to fix it." goes beyond what is likely to be provided by a native HTML5 input type so either the text has to be reduced (avoid requiring specific instructions as to fixing it) or the test might get more complex - not sure...
