The whole way that FTWildcardOptions speaks of inserting indicators into tokens being matched is very strange and confusing. It seems to imply that changes are being made to the documents being matched. The constraints on which whitespace characters may be allowed as matches also impinges on tokenization algorithms. It would be better to speak in terms of matching the tokens that are actually produced from tokenization of the document.
The Task Force has agreed to make changes in the text that we believe will resolve your comment. However, we are investigating one additional aspect of this text and, until we have completed that investigation, are leaving this bug open.
Reworked the text 2007-04-02. Have not addressed the "which characters can match" issue. Task force should review new text.
Agreed to remove reference to specific characters, but to make clearer that matching is within a token, not across tokens. Done 2007-04-09.
Because you participated in the TF when this bug was resolved, we presume that your concerns are addressed appropriately. We are therefore marking this bug as CLOSED.
