Is there a good reason to exclude PNG?

WG Notes: Here, it's because the DDC isn't defined to assume PNG support, and the reason for that is noted above. (JR) Proposed Resolution: The DDC is defined as not supporting PNG consequently it does not indicate support for PNG in the request. Consequently receipt of PNG causes a FAIL.

Resolution: The DDC is defined as not supporting PNG consequently it does not indicate support for PNG in the request. Consequently receipt of PNG causes a FAIL. At the time the DDC was specified there was consensus that PNG was not widely enough supported on devices.
