Mark DuBois

Mark is an Associate Professor at Illinois Central College (East Peoria). Prior to teaching, Mark worked in various positions in business, state government and industry (including stints as a consultant). He has been working with web systems since late 1992 and created his first commercial website in 1995. He created the first accredited degree in web systems and the first accredited certificate rich Internet application development. During his tenure at ICC, Mark was responsible for creating an Associates degree in web systems, 5 certificate programs (web designer, web developer, webmaster, rich Internet appliation developer, and eCommerce specialist). Mark and his colleague (Shari Tripp) teach 17 separate classes in web systems at ICC and try to keep the content up to date.

Mark has also served as Director of Education for the World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) since 2006. During his time with WOW, Mark has revised the WOW Academy model, worked with many others to establish career pathways for aspiring web professionals and helped develop the Career Clusters initiative for Interactive Media. Mark also gave a pre-conference seminar on Web 2.0 best practices at the 17th International WWW Conference in Beijing (with Prof. Beb White). Mark works closely with Bill Cullifer (Executive Director of WOW) in coordinating and supervising the annual national WOW web design contest (held in conjunction with SkillsUSA in Kansas City every June).

He has received a number of honors, including WOW Web Professional of the Year. Mark was selected as an Adobe Higher Education Leader in 2008. He holds a number of certifications related to web systems.
