There is a note in the input element telephone state mentioning setCustomValidity() method to manage telephone state validation mechanism. The pattern attribute may be very helpful for that, even more. Probably it should be mentioned ? This sentence: "Systems that need to enforce a particular format are encouraged to use the setCustomValidity() method to hook into the client-side validation mechanism." Could be changed to: "Systems that need to enforce a particular format are encouraged to use the pattern attribute or the setCustomValidity() method to hook into the client-side validation mechanism."
