4.5.3 Node Comparisons Normalization fs:is-same-node, fs:node-before, fs:node-after It's not clear why we have these functions. Why not just directly invoke the op: versions?

Not fixed in the 2006-06 CR.
I believe the op: versions could be used for those, but left the fs: versions, both for consistency with other comparison operators, the operator's mapping table in XQuery 1.0, and to reduce the number of changes at this state of the process. - Jerome
