SMIL Animation Becomes a W3C Recommendation

The World Wide Web Consortium has issued SMIL Animation as a W3C Recommendation. This subset of the Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language 2.0 (SMIL, pronounced "smile") puts animation on a time line, allows composition of multiple animations, and describes animation elements for any XML-based host language.
