Given the predominance of developed nations in the advancement of the World Wide Web it is important to keep reminding people that fundamental Web architectures and features should be worldwide in applicability. Accessibility to information on the Web has always been a fundamental goal of the World Wide Web Consortium. The Consortium was established by Tim Berners-Lee to lead the Web to its full potential through the development of base standards for things such as HTML, XML, CSS, Web Services, the Semantic Web, etc. Richard`s talk will look at the work of the W3C and some other key organizations that are helping to take the World Wide Web into corners of the world that have new and emerging markets. These regions typically need special attention to ensure support for their unique culture, language or script.
