Meeting
After previous discussions in our community group, we have drafted a charter for a potential new community group to focus on the JavaScript API proposal for standardising how web game developers integrate with web game portals and other hosting services. Our proposed name is the “Loading and Control JavaScript API”.
Why a new group?
- The charter of the existing Web Games Community Group does not currently include the purview of writing specifications for new APIs or standards. It would’ve been possible to alter the existing charter but after discussions between the co-chairs it was decided it would be better to create a dedicated group to focus on this task in particular. Hence we have created a draft charter for the new group to achieve that particular goal.
What is this proposed API exactly?
- The proposal aims to define a Micro-API outlining a boundary between a web game and the page on which it is embedded.
For more details such as “why we should make a new API”, we recommend you read the draft charter. As that gives more detail on the proposal, goal and scope. This will also be excellent preparation before the discussion meeting.
