Proposed Group: Character Description Language Community Group
Posted on:The Character Description Language Community Group has been proposed by Richard Cook:
This group will develop Character Description Language (CDL), an XML application for stroke-based representation of any CJK character.
For more information about this technology, see:
* Character Description Language (CDL) draft specification: http://www.wenlin.com/cdl/
* Appendix F: “CJK Strokes Documentation” (Unicode 6.1): http://www.unicode.org/versions/Unicode6.1.0/appF.pdf
You are invited to support the creation of this group. Once the group has a total of five supporters, it will be launched and people can join to begin work. In order to support the group, you will need a W3C account.
Once launched, the group will no longer be listed as “proposed”; it will be in the list of current groups.
If you believe that there is an issue with this group that requires the attention of the W3C staff, please send us email on site-comments@w3.org
Thank you,
W3C Community Development Team
I’m the author of “New Perspectives in Sinographic Language Processing through the Use of Character Structure” http://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007%2F978-3-642-37247-6_17 (http://arxiv.org/abs/1405.5474) which deals with Chinese subcharacters, this work couldn’t be possible without CDL.
If possible, I want our GlyphWiki data
to be able to convert to CDL, so that our
assets may be more useable.
Regards,
The CDL group is now “current”. Please join the group here:

and make comments there.
Thanks!
