1. W3C publishes guidelines on making browsers and media
players accessible
The User Agent Accessibility Guidelines (UAAG) 1.0, which address accessibility
of browsers and media players and their interoperability with assistive
technologies, became a W3C Recommendation on 17 December 2002. W3C Recommendations
have the status of Web standards. UAAG 1.0 is third in a complementary set
of W3C Web accessibility guidelines which already include the Web Content
Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 1.0 and the Authoring Tool Accessibility
Guidelines (ATAG) 1.0:

2. Extensive implementation support materials available
for UAAG 1.0
In addition to the UAAG 1.0 Recommendation, the User Agent Accessibility
Guidelines Working Group produced Techniques for UAAG 1.0, which includes
detailed information on implementation in different markup languages and
user agent types; a Test Suite for UAAG 1.0; interactive forms for UAAG 1.0
evaluations; and documentation of UAAG 1.0 implementations in a variety of
software:

3. Invitation to participation in Research and Development
Interest Group
WAI has announced the formation of the Research and Development Interest
Group (RDIG) which explores potential accessibility implications of a number
of different advanced Web technologies. RDIG has a core group which prepares
a series of teleconference events, which include presentations on and discussions
of advanced Web technologies.

4. Participation in W3C/WAI Interest Groups and Working
Groups
Representatives of W3C Member organizations, and individuals wishing to
apply as Invited Experts, should read the groups' charters and send information
requested on the "How to Join" page. Working Group participation requires
an on-going commitment of time to the group. Participation is also possible
by means of commenting on draft documents under development; comments are
welcome from all.
