The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) is holding a series of meetings hosted
by
Microsoft and
Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) on 3-5 September
2003 in Dublin, Ireland:
- Wednesday 3 September, in the
afternoon, is a Web Accessibility Networking meeting
- Thursday 4 September is a Web Accessibility Evaluation
Exchange
- Friday 5 September is a WAI
Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG) face-to-face meeting
Thursday's meeting is an opportunity to demonstrate and exchange best
practice evaluation methods, approaches, and techniques among experienced Web
accessibility evaluators.
Participation in the Web Accessibility Evaluation Exchange on 4 September
is open to:
There is no registration fee; however, pre-registration
is required by 27 August. (Separate pre-registration is required for the Web Accessibility Networking on 3
September and EOWG meeting on 5
September.)

- Jurys Ballsbridge Hotel - 5-star modern conference hotel in the
Ballsbridge area of the city.
- Burlington Hotel - 4-star large modern hotel closer to the city centre.
Bus stops outside hotel for UCD campus.
- Montrose Hotel - 3-star business hotel 5-minute walk from UCD
campus.
Guesthouses, Bed and Breakfasts
There a number of guesthouses and bed/breakfasts situated around UCD. For
a listing of guesthouses and bed and breakfasts, search the Irish Tourist Board Web site and
look for accommodation in Dublin/South in the areas of Ballsbridge,
Donnybrook, or Merrion Road.
Transportation
By airplane
Dublin is served by one airport: Dublin International Airport (DUB), on
the city's north side. Transportation options from the airport include:
- Bus to City Centre - There are frequent connecting buses to the city
centre, including a special shuttle service that brings passengers
directly to Busaras (the Central Bus Station, Amiens St.). Directions by
bus from city centre to UCD are in the next
section.
- Bus to UCD - Aircoach operate a bus service to
Leopardstown/Sandyford/Stillorgan which passes UCD to and from Dublin
Airport. More information is available at http://www.aircoach.ie
- Taxi - There is usually a plentiful supply of taxis at the airport. The
fare from the airport to UCD is approximately €25-30, depending on
traffic and the time of day.
Throughout Ireland
By Bus
Bus Eireann provide a nationwide bus service, and most major population
areas have a direct link to Dublin. All Dublin services terminate in Busaras
(the Central Bus Station, Amiens St.). It is a short walk from Busaras to
O'Connell Street in city centre, where there are connecting buses to UCD. More information is available at the Bus Eireann Web site.
By train
Dublin is served by two main railway stations: Connolly and Heuston. From
Connolly Station it is a short walk to O'Connell Street in city centre, where
there are connecting buses to UCD. There are frequent
connecting services from Heuston to city centre. More information is
available at the Iarnróad Eireann
(Irish Rail) Web site.
From Dublin City Centre
By Bus
Dublin Bus numbers 3, 10, 11B, and 17 all provide direct bus services to
UCD. The numbers 3, 10, and 11B can be boarded at O'Connell Street in city
centre. For timetable information is available through Dublin Bus, by seraching for
"University College Dublin"
By taxi
There are usually an adequate number of taxis in operation in the city
centre at any given time. It is possible to hail a taxi from the street, and
convenient taxi ranks are located outside Wynn's Hotel on Middle Abbey
Street, opposite the Virgin Megastore on Aston Quay, and opposite the Bank of
Ireland on Dame Street. The fare from city centre to UCD is approximately
€10-12, depending on traffic and the time of day.

Accessible buses and taxis are available throughout Dublin. If you need
