Document Profiles continued
Devices capabilities described using CC/PP, documents are
authored to document profiles
Document Profiles can be described at several levels:
- Profile Name
- A set of features/module names
- Profile definition as a set of assertions
- XML Schema (or DTD)
The profile definition is a set of machine interpretable
assertions which provide basis for interoperability
guarantees:
- How long the profile can be safely cached
- A grammar constraining the markup of conforming documents,
covering all the modules involved, e.g. SVG, MathML and RDF
- The set of content types & data formats supported by
browsers
- Additional details, e.g. the subset of CSS properties and
which tags they apply to, and similarly for scripting
support
- Requirements on browser capabilities, e.g. display size
- A link to a human readable description of the profile
- Additional information about who has defined the profile and
when (attribution and copyright).
W3C Open Source utility is planned for verifying that
documents conform to document profile
