Submission Guidelines
All submissions must be sent directly to the
Editor.
All articles are subject to peer review by the Editorial
Board and selected members of the web community. Notification of
acceptance and assignment to an issue will shortly follow the review
process. All submissions are final; material will not be
returned.
(@@I'm not sure about this part. I'm still looking into it.)
Authors are required to assign copyright to SIGS Publications.
Copyright forms will be sent upon notification of acceptance.
Style
We request the following elements of style when preparing your submission:
- We highlight the first two or three paragraphs of each article, so open the
piece with strong text that will attract readers
- Highlight possible pull quotes; keep pull quotes in mind when writing
- Break articles into one or two layers of subheads, wherever possible
(HTML: use H1 for the title, H2 and H3 for subheads)
- No double spaces, even after periods
(HTML: don't worry about this)
- No double returns, even after paragraphs
(HTML: don't worry about this)
- Clearly mark major and minor subheads < 1 >, < 2 >, etc, if possible
(HTML: use H1 for the title, H2 and H3 for subheads)
- Use tabs instead of spaces for formatting tables, lists, code, etc
(HTML: don't worry about this)
- Do not manually hyphenate; the page layout software will do this
- Omit footers and headers
- Literature citations should be placed numerically in order of appearance at
the end of the article; text citations should appear in parentheses
- Footnotes should appear directly under the callout in the text
- Charts or other graphics should be submitted in clear, reproducible hard
copy--electronic versions are not necessary, but EPS, TIFF, or similar files
will be accepted (@@ I think SIGS has artists that can redraw figures, but I'm not sure)
In order of preference, options are:
- soft-copy (in HTML) via email
- soft-copy (in plain text) via email
- hard-copy by fax (call or send email to get fax number)
- soft-copy on 3.5" DOS diskette via surface mail
Please note format clearly on diskette.
