This is an archived snapshot of W3C's public bugzilla bug tracker, decommissioned in April 2019. Please see the home page for more details.
I successfully validated my XHTML and was attempting to also validate the CSS, but the validator gives: Target: http://xandar.cable.nu:81/bugtest/FloatBug.html I/O Error: import http://xandar.cable.nu:81/bugtest/FloatBug.html: Operation not permitted I';m not sure what operation it is referring to, but targetting the CSS directly didn't work either http://xandar.cable.nu:81/bugtest/stylesheet.css Though both of them can be loaded from an external source. I'll try to keep the site up as long as possible so that you can have a peek. NB the CSS (on its own) validates OK if I paste it into the TextArea.
Ports under 1024 are usually reserved for system purposes, and the CSS validator currently refuses to query other than port 80 (specifically reserved for HTTP) in that range, to avoid being used, for instance, as a relay for a denial of service. Leaving the ticket opened while we discuss/document this.
OK - that makes sense to me. I'll reconfigure my web-server, been meaning to anyway. Perhaps a clearer message though?
Should be fixed, more relaxed checks
