"If as first (or as last)": should make clear it is only for into.
The spec says "If as first (or as last) is specified, ". Replace with "If as first (or as last) is specified for into, " Also reword: 5. The result of the insert expression is an empty XDM instance and a pending update list constructed as follows: a. If as first <new>into</new> is specified, the pending update list consists of the following update primitives: If $alist is not empty, upd:insertAttributes($target, $alist) If $clist is not empty, upd:insertIntoAsFirst($target, $clist) b. If as last <new>into</new> is specified, the pending update list consists of the following update primitives: If $alist is not empty, upd:insertAttributes($target, $alist) If $clist is not empty, upd:insertIntoAsLast($target, $clist)
