Quick Items

McCool: summer time has started

McCool: I need to step down as WoT co-chair due to company needs
… we still have 2 co-chairs
… will still attend meetings
… will step down from Use Case TF also
… will continue with NGSI-LD for a while but we should find someone to take over
… Koster will take over the chair duties during April

McCool: there is an increased interest in AI and edge computing at Intel

Ben: thank you for everything you have done

Kaz: technically, the W3C Team need to make an official announcement, so please let me know about your concrete plan and dates later.

<dezell> Thanks very much, Michael. Nine years is a long time.

Meetups

WoT CG

Ege: the HiveOT presentation has some specific suggestions for the WoT standard

McCool: we should think about IoT devices as clients
… there could also be device shadow services

McCool: how do we capture what we learn from these events?

Ege: in the minutes and record

McCool: we could create an issue

Kaz: we should consider these suggestions as concrete input, using issues and use case process as needed

McCool: we could now open the use case process to external parties

Kaz: for today, we can create an issue for this specific question

<McCool> w3c/wot#1228

McCool: (creates issue #1228 for capturing input from CG meetups)

WoT JP CG

McCool: we need a plan for the inactive WoT JP CG

Web based digital twin for smart cities

<kaz> Mar-24 minutes

Kaz: the interest group had a call on March 24th

<kaz> resources.md

Kaz: created and populated the resources directory
… reaffirmed that we will work on web based digital twins for smart cities

<kaz> announcement

Kaz: the next meeting is April 28th
… consistently on the last Monday of each month

Kaz: fyi, will join the ISO/IEC JTC1 workshop on April 25th to talk about smart city ontologies

McCool: this is also a big activity for the NGSI-LD group

McCool: is it an open workshop?

Kaz: will check with the organizer to see how to join

McCool: is there an agenda for April 28th?

Kaz: continue to work on resources. also would invite stakeholders from SDOs.

McCool: it would be good to invite the NGSI-LD people

Ege: there is a researcher looking for use cases for a streaming RDF protocol

Kaz: we should add this project to the Smart City IG resources

Cloud edge client coordination CG

McCool: this group is my new priority and aligns with the new work

Liaisons

McCool: any updates on Liaisons? need Sebastian about OPC liaison. didn't have NGSI-Liaison call this week.

Schedule

McCool: please let us know about holiday schedules

Policies

McCool: there are 2 PRs on policies

Policy adoption policy

McCool: first the policy adoption policy
… it was too complicated to use a separate directory for proposals
… the new policy policy is simple and reflects what we actually do

<kaz> PR 1227 - Update policy-adoption.md

McCool: we create PRs for new policy proposals in the policies directory, and discuss and update until we achieve consensus

McCool: any comments or changes?

McCool: would like to approve the new policy adoption policy today
… any objections?
… no objections, will create a resolution

<McCool> proposal: Merge w3c/wot#1227 to update the procedure for adopting new policies. Since this PR has been around for a while, the new policy will take effect immediately.

McCool: any objections ?

RESOLUTION: Merge w3c/wot#1227 to update the procedure for adopting new policies. Since this PR has been around for a while, the new policy will take effect immediately.

McCool: merged PR #1227

IE policy

<kaz> WoT PR 1226 - Update invited-expert.md to include time

McCool: the IE policy is next but needs a couple of changes
… added a time commitment to the requirement

Ben: don't think a specific number of hours per week is practical

McCool: it is ambiguous whether it is every week, or an average

McCool: we could have people state their time commitment, but not have a set number of hours

Ege: is some of this policy retroactive?

McCool: chairs can remove IEs if there is an issue with contribution

McCool: does the change look OK?

Ben: OK

<McCool> proposal: Merge https://github.com/w3c/wot/pull/1226, updating the Invited Expert policy so that candidates are requested to state their time commitment clearly, but we will not require any specific amount of time per week.

McCool: any objections?

RESOLUTION: Merge https://github.com/w3c/wot/pull/1226, updating the Invited Expert policy so that candidates are requested to state their time commitment clearly, but we will not require any specific amount of time per week.

McCool: Ben Francis would like to co-moderate the Profile TF

<McCool> proposal: Accept Ben Francis as co-moderator of the Profiles TF.

McCool: any comments or changes to the proposal?

Kaz: I'm OK with the proposal itself, but we need to clarify the procedure for moderator appointment

McCool: the procedure is a resolution by default

RESOLUTION: Accept Ben Francis as co-moderator of the Profiles TF.

McCool: any comments or objections?

<benfrancis> Proposed WoT Profiles Plan 2025 https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bkIXVw3FHP8uJzn53t5GcRNqZq2gqITDfBlcKn7fdiY/edit?usp=sharing

McCool: Any other business for today?

Ege: The logo for dark backgrounds is approved
