Meeting minutes
Relevant outcomes of TPAC 2024.
<janina> https://
Janina: notes the wiki page reflecting activities of APA at TPAC.
Janina: it's an active page under development.
Janina: this Task Force was highlighted at TPAC during the plenary session by reason of the AI accessibiity work, and along with WCAG.
There wasn't any particular feedback in response at the event.
Janina notes that APA Working Group rechartering is happening, with deliverables to be defined for July 2025 - July 2027.
Janina notes the joint meeting with AGWG - also recorded. Recording to be made available.
Janina notes that WCAG 3 includes a decision tree. Conformance depends on choices made in the decision tree (e.g., one could identify early on that particular work needs to be done).
This is an interesting approach.
Janina notes the joint meeting with EPUB, emphasizing that they're back into standards development (i.e., new material).
Janina notes discussions with the Media and Entertainment Interest Group.
Janina notes media-related provisions of E.U. regulations, citing our previous discussion of the same.
Previous minutes will be informative.
Janina: we plan to respond to questions arising during development of WCAG 3.
Scott: notes the decision tree seems interesting, and thanks Janina for a comprehensive report.
Collaboration Tools Accessibility User Requirements.
jasonjgw: We received further comments from COGA post end of public review
jasonjgw: Notes additional list of issues
jasonjgw: Expectation to resolve what can be quickly resolved, then move to publication
Janina: Notes our next publication opportunity is in November, and this gives us time to make decisions on the issues recently raised by COGA, which janina thinks we should consider.
Janina: there is consensus that the document could communicate visually more effectively than it now does. We'll receive advice on formatting (of documents in general, not just this publication).
However, this is a post-publication change. There is great value in the document, and there is no desire to withhold publication to resolve such outstanding issues.
Janina proposes we create a label such as CTAUR-Next, so that some of these issues can be deferred to it.
Janina: notes issues logged since Monday.
Janina notes 16 new issues. Some of them are either CTAUR-next, or unclear; the rest are very actionable. Some are easily dopted.
Janina proposes to create a branch with the immediately actionable changes.
Janina: suggestion that we ensure the requirements are clearly within scope, e.g., requirements about notifications that could be applied to software design in general. We need to clarify the specificity of the problem to collaborative environments.
Scott: notes that the specific collaborative aspect arises from having multiple users and notifications arising from their interactions.
Janina agrees we can clarify the point.
Janina notes the specificity of the issues, which is welcome in contrast with the comments received a year ago, pointing to an improvement in issue raising by COGA.
Scott: suggests we impose a hard deadline on the review of open issues, shifting the remainder to post-publication work.
Janina proposes a CfC around 7-9 November.
Janina: issue #88 belongs in the next version of CTAUR.

Roy (responding to Janina): notes the Immersive Captions Git repository is prepared, and the editor's draft is in place.
Roy notes sections that need updating, including acknowledgments.
Also section 1.2.
Janina notes the need for messaging as well. Realistically, this won't be ready until early November.
We'll invite community group participants to assist with messaging.

Already addressed under XR.

We can make considerable progress before holidays.
Jason: notes daylight saving changes.
Janina notes that Europe moves back to standard time first, followed by North America.
Janina notes that the Maturity Model work is heading to another public working draft.
AI accessibility.
jasonjgw: Notes we're making improvement decisions pre FPWD
janina: Messaging we have!
Janina: we should review messaging from TPAC to prepare announcement materials for the first public working draft.
Janina: agrees with Scott that we start integrating scope/audience statements into the draft itself.
Janina: notes that this document and WCAG 3 were the two developments highlighted at the TPAC plenary session.
