<shawn> Once upon a time, the only way for folks to learn about WAI WGs and TFs were the pages on the WAI sub-site that are linked from Groups <https://www.w3.org/WAI/about/groups/> and Task Forces <https://www.w3.org/WAI/about/groups/task-forces/>, e.g., AG WG home page <https://www.w3.org/WAI/about/groups/agwg/>. Only staff can update these pages; Chairs and anyone can submit pull requests.
<shawn> Then the W3C database was created that provides some of the info that was previously on those pages, e.g., AG DB page with links from the secondary (left side) nav <https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/ag/>.
<shawn> And Chairs and Facilitators started using wiki pages to provide info, e.g., EOWG wiki home page. Then some started using GitHub.
<shawn> A few years ago, we started a little project to better organize, present, and maintain the info.
<shawn> We hadn't been able to get back to updating the approach and content for the WG and TF pages ... until now!
<shawn> Tamsin on it? Who up for talking with her, maybe at TPAC?
shawn: Tamsin is taking this on
as a project. She may want input from folks before beginning
work.
... Maintenance will be moved to chairs, less reliant on WAI
staff.
matt: Are we going to discuss at TPAC?
shawn: Tamsin will have a draft of ideas, we won't spend a lot of time at TPAC on it but will definitely spend some time on it.
lisa: Would like to introduce
this to COGA - invite Tamsin to come to COGA meeting to
discuss.
... COGA meetings are on Mondays about 1.5 hours before this
one.
shawn: May reach out and contact COGA, as that time doesn't work.
lisa: Would like to meet at TPAC to discuss.
<shawn> tamsin@w3.org
lisa: Will contact Rain and Tamsen to make arrangements.
matt: To what extent is this WAI focused rather than W3C focused?
shawn: Will ask Tamsen to broaden scope to make sure whatever we do is in sync with other W3C and be helpful more broadly too. However, we need to be mindful of work involved in broadening scope.
matt: Was bringing this up to try
to reduce scope. Wanted to make sure WAI wasn't introducing
complicated content - more complicated than W3C. Likes the
database method of accessing the info, as it makes the UI
consistent.
... GitHub has wikis that can be used for the more unique
elements. The calendar isn't consistent in including the
minutes for each meeting, for example. Automatically generating
that link is more consistent and helpful.
shawn: Hope is to eliminate things that are duplicated in the database from these pages.
matt: Would love to provide input during TPAC, Wednesday or days that ARIA isn't meeting
shawn: Wants to do this that week.
shawn: Reminder, you are welcome
to submit topics for breakouts. Deadline is 16 Sept.
... Submit soon, slots are filling up.
<bruce_bailey2> Lost in (w3c) Space -- i love it
<lisa> https://raw.githack.com/w3c/coga/issue-papers-v2/issue-papers/index.html
lisa: Would like to submit two - COGA has two more issue papers (introduction to these and bringing people's attention to them). The other is make presentation for a new prototype for making content usable that has had extensive user testing.
Shawn: Due Tues. 24th Sept at 3 pm Pacific
Matt: Do we know what WAI groups are planning something for CSUN?
<shawn> https://www.w3.org/WAI/cc/wiki/Main_Page#CSUN_2025_submissions
shawn: Above is the link to a list of those planning something.
maryjo: FYI, WCAG2ICT will be hopefully publishing again in early October - right after TPAC.
