Welcome & Introductions (As needed)

Capabilities Continued Development

Capabilities Draft: https://a11yedge.github.io/capabilities/

Lionel_Wolberger: Knowledge and skills back the initial round of a11y work in web content

Lionel_Wolberger: Often this doesn't happen at source though

Lionel_Wolberger: Some of us in the a11y industry came up with additional approaches to take web content and massage a11y into the content delivered to the user

Lionel_Wolberger: At Userway we do a lot automated

Lionel_Wolberger: e.g. we catch missing alt on the fly

janina: We completed automatability for about 5 more items -- should complete next week.

Knowledge and skills

Chris: A company that adopts edge accessibility should be aware that they are not onboarding the knowledge and skills

Lionel_Wolberger: This will be captured in the trade-offs

Chris: There are methods for creating websites today by low code, or content management systems, that put up a website in moments that might be low quality
… There are no quality checks on it -- is it cyber secure, energy efficient, accessible, etc
… this can be compared with the difference between a 'patent' and a 'produced object'
… the patent may be an idea that is not safe, or sustainable. But the patent is still accepted, as these other policies, compliance or conformance is not the patent office's job

janina: What body would be responsible for enforcing this?
