Meeting minutes

minutes review

<kaz> Oct-11

McCool: any objections to publish the minutes from October 11?
… no objections, publish

quick updates

McCool: no updates

planning

McCool: propose 2 hour meeting for next week

project planning

McCool: propose to finish the policy discussion, then discuss project management

Kaz: there is ongoing work in W3C around project management and something coming out soon

McCool: not clear if we will be able to use the W3C project management approach

Kaz: there is the W3C Process Document as the basics but the working groups still define their own management Note that there is a guideline page also.

<kaz> Gidebook page

face to face day

Kaz: planning for next year

Sebastian: we want to have an event like the 2019 Munich
… Siemens would organize it again, this time in Berlin
… we could combine the event with other WoT activities
… we are considering a W3C workshop

McCool: we don't need an official workshop, and it would be extra work

Kaz: the question is whether we will invite external contributors

Sebastian: we could have a plugfest and invite contributors
… there is a one day event and we can organize other activities around it

Kaz: an official W3C workshop would need to follow a complicated procedure

McCool: we need a proposal, in the meantime plan for June

IG charter

McCool: the IG expires this year (Dec. 31)
… we need to decide if we need the IG
… we need to schedule the charter discussion
… it takes 2 months for review

Kaz: the IG charter should be easier and we can probably copy the existing charter

McCool: let's have the discussion right away so there is enough time for review
… put it on the calendar

Ege: if we don't have an IG, can we transfer the marketing and use case work to the WG?

McCool: the discussion is whether the CG can take over some of the IG tasks

Kaz: transferring tasks is complicated

McCool: let's discuss it next week

meeting schedule changes

McCool: having special use case calls October 19 and 26
… waiting for the time change before rescheduling the TD meeting
… any other holidays or conflicts?

Sebastian: November 1

McCool: we are planning the policy discussion on November 1st

McCool: we should move the policy discussion to November 8th
… any other conflicts?
… reminder about the week of confusion time change
… for the use case meeting, mm will prepare a template and will discuss organizing use case work
… any other schedule changes or conflicts

Kaz: will reschedule the TD coordination call

publications

specs

McCool: is the TD rec ready for publication?

Ege: yes

<Ege> https://w3c.github.io/wot-thing-description/publication/ver11/7-rec/Overview

McCool: let's do the resolution

<McCool> proposal: Proceed with REC transition for TD 1.1 based on version staged in https://w3c.github.io/wot-thing-description/publication/ver11/7-rec/Overview

McCool: are there any changes or objections to the resolution?

Ege: forgot to fix McCool's affiliation

Daniel: similar issue on other documents

McCool: Intel has local companies and it is confusing, so we should use Intel Corp

McCool: any objections to the resolution?

RESOLUTION: Proceed with REC transition for TD 1.1 based on version staged in https://w3c.github.io/wot-thing-description/publication/ver11/7-rec/Overview (incl change to say "Intel Corp")

McCool: resolved to publish the TD Recommendation

McCool: still have some cleanup to do so the publication will be next week

resources

<kaz> wot-thing-description/NAMESPACES.md

<kaz> wot-discovery/publication/6-resources/README.md

McCool: reviewing the resources directory organization
… comparing discovery vs. TD resources organization
… concerns about the included README and file names
… also a question around how to handle models

Ege: the problem is redirecting
… we need to provide the github locations

McCool: if the README is included in the directory, it will get copied over

Ege: the structure comes from many assumptions that were made earlier

McCool: we need to document the exact steps needed for publication

McCool: there are questions about how to document and how to organize
… would like to merge the discovery resources as-is even though there are some inconsistencies

Ege: there are some messy things but it will be difficult to change them

McCool: how can we make the discovery resources and TD resources consistent?

Kaz: once the resources are published under the wot-resources repository, it will be nice to have a table of the URLs including the information which URL (https://www.w3.org/...) to be redirected to which URL (https://w3c.github.io/...).

McCool: would like to merge the discovery resources PR
… any objection?
… PR #552
… there is a PR for TD resources but it's missing a table

Ege: should there be one top level table or a table for each spec?

McCool: a table for each version

Ege: separate tables is better

McCool: marking the TD README as DRAFT and will merge now, expecting another PR to update the README

Kaz: We have resolved to publich TD 1.1, what about the other specifications?

McCool: do they all need to have the same date?

McCool: we have minor updates to do on discovery and architecture

McCool: we are still waiting for the press release also, let's generate transition requests for all the three RECs next week.

McCool: there are 5 PRs on the press release, can we merge them and get a final version we can review?

AOB

McCool: we're out of time, are there any other items?

<kaz> wot PRs with "Press" label

Ege: we're publishing the TD call agenda 1 week in advance

McCool: adjourned

<kaz> i|we'reout|topic: AOB|
