… timeframe?

mck: PR 2258 is still in progress and ready for the implementation
issue 2535 is not started for the implementation
2023 APG TF Vision Discussion
mck: what we talked about last week were
- Running workshops or info session to attract more participation
- More sharing of and improving Incentives for participation and contribution
- Returning to more focus to add design patterns
mck: what would be incentives for participation
… write out the list
any other measures to attract the partipant
jemma: may be one on one mentoring and coaching will be helpful.
https://
jon: we can use the APG mailing list to invite participation
… let participants have deeper understanding
emphasis on the goal of benefiting other people
fullfillment will be a good reason to join.
mck: first weakness is in engineering aspect and second weakness is documentation
in APG
mck: how about design aspect?
… as we develop more example, we can recruit the desginers.
… The weakest part is engineering aspect.
… regression test is the important part of the work too.
jon: sure. we can have some specialization for the APG work.
jon; test can be very specific to the coding example
mck: back to talent discussion
… we need to recruit people, not coding example
jon: one of barrier to participate in APG is W3C membership issue.
mck: Intellectual Property clearance issue is connected.
jon: if we can connect the recruitment with accessibility course, it would be good.
mck: market the APG as the project, rather than members will be helpful?
jon: I think that is the good idea.
mck: we can provide template so that people can start working on it.

reading through the comment, w3c/
sarah's comment on APG pattern vs Native <select> w3c/
jon: it is confusing everything is read as "choose fruit"
mck: outcome of pervious meeting was we would change the name of the value to "choose fruit" and make it as none.
… should it be shown as place holder, not a value?
mck: we can go either way.
jon: intent here is the direction, "choose the fruit"
mck: we could show it as empty, no value.
mck: current behavior may be the bug, which highligted item can be different from selected item.
jon: "choose fruit" is checked initailly so it looks like the selected value.
jon: position of mouse seems to be a bit off.
jon: when you don thave anything selected, the value is the "choose the fruit". that is the problem
mck: I am having the difficult time to understand the bug - . hightlight vs select
jon: my problem is "choose a fruit" being the select option. It seems to be punky, it rather to be "no fruit" option
jon: native select html choose the first option as the value if nothing is selected.
mck: how about showing it as place holder with no value, - put it outside div so on...actually we are not sure whether aria place holder made it aria 1.2
