xfq: I'm trying to migrate our language switching code to TypeScript
xfq: Currently, clreq, jlreq, and klreq have language switching
xfq: but because of changes in ReSpec, these codes often have issues and need to be modified
xfq: the readability and maintainability of the current JS code in clreq is not very good
xfq: so I would like to migrate it to TypeScript to make the code more self-expressive, which can enhance maintainability
huijing: I agree
xfq: will look into `let` vs. `const`
https://github.com/w3c/clreq/pull/475
xfq: I reduced the number of warnings in the document
xfq: Character advance (字幅) in tracked in https://
Eric: please link "line height" to the Glossary
xfq: OK
Zhengyu: https://
Zhengyu: why 'line height = character size / 2 + line gap + character size / 2 = character size + line gap'?
[Discuss the definition of line height]
[Discuss the reference point for line height]
Zhengyu: In a web page, the line height of the upper and lower lines may be different
Zhengyu: The definition here is different from CSS
Zhengyu: should we change it to be consistent with CSS?
Zhengyu: or we can just remove the formula
Eric: 'line height = character size / 2 + line gap + character size / 2 = character size + line gap' is just an example
Eric: it's the most common algorithm
Eric: It's hard to tell without adding a figure
Eric: https://
Eric: in jlreq it's called "line feed" / 行送り
Zhengyu: line height in CSS is only determined by the current line, not related to the adjacent lines
Zhengyu: We can ignore this issue for now
Zhengyu: or we use the term "line feed" instead of "line height"
xfq: there is ambiguity in "line feed"
xfq: it can mean "moving one line forward" or "the distance between two adjacent lines measured by their reference points"
Zhengyu: indeed
Eric: I agree
[Discuss the Chinese translation of the word 行送り]
Eric: 行的推进量
Eric: this term is from photo typesetting
Eric: the terminology in Chinese is also confusing
Eric: 行距 vs 行隙 vs 行间距

[Discuss the text and do live editing]
Eric: I'll do some editorial fixes and ping @huijing for English translation
https://github.com/w3c/clreq/issues/474
xfq: We removed the ligature section in #330. Should we also remove the term in the Glossary?
Eric: yes, it should be removed
https://github.com/w3c/clreq/issues/476
Eric: This method is currently only used by Xinhua Dictionary
Eric: There is no practical significance, because Bopomofo is not used in Mainland China
Eric: let's add a note in 3.3.3

Eric: need feedback from Taiwan
