Meeting minutes
BMW implementation of VISS
Adnan: timeline not set but we're working on it. meed to get review and go through process
Ulf: example implementation report would help
Ted: sure we have from v1 but better examples
Carine: you can find many examples linked to any specification that reached PR or REC under https://
… some are more generated based on test suite results
Features wishlist
Ulf: how can we use this exercise to reach more people?
… perhaps send to the mailing list or start a wiki?
… issues on github
Ted outlines mix of github for tracking actual, create a survey and reach out to our large mailing list (many more lurkers than active on call)
Adnan: for us, less features would be preferred
Ulf: one idea is the notion of being able to push jobs to the server, more complex than what can be done with the filters
Erik: is the idea sending a job down to the server or being able to call a pre-defined?
Ulf: both
Erik: reason for asking is it is staring to sound similar to VSC service
… especially wiht pre-defined
Ulf: we would want to avoid conflicting with that work
Peter: there is growing attention towards Matter, a home automation standard
… it would be good to have interoperability with it
Ted: nearby is the PoC BMW did with W3C WoT and VSS
… at a higher level need for a technical steering committee within COVESA/W3C
… see jobs useful for multiple purposes
Adnan: we have to be careful in being too wide in different use cases
… at AMM around VISS we see it as an API gateway but internally do not expect it to be the back end
… for lightweight browser applications it is useful or gateway to systems
… approach is different for different use cases
Ted: all that said, should continue with plan outlight for getting input for v2
Ulf: maybe we should be looking at the bigger picture instead
Adnan: multiple approaches are fine
… we need to consider outsiders taking a first look at this. the more a solution tries to address, the more wary I am of it. better is specific purpose some times
Ulf: agree it is possible to over engineer something
