Meeting minutes

previous 9 November

Tzviya: Liz and I are finding 2nd and 4th Tuesday to be confusing
… how would you feel about alternate Tuesdays instead?
… if there's a 5th Tuesday in the month we wouldn't lose a meeting

Ralph: for meetings that meet more than once a month, that does seem easier

Tzviya: ok; I'll make that change in the calendar

Training materials for chairs and general membership

Tzviya: Liz and I notice that our most frequent request is for training materials
… there are three courses in the works and we need to get something out there
… also, our current Ombuds have little/no formal training
… and are not supposed to be in the management tier
… we have almost everything in place to proceed with an Ombuds program but we need training
… we had a detailed plan, some of which is dependent on move to legal entity
… we need to move forward with an Ombuds plan
… and in particular a training plan
… we don't have the resources to write a training plan ourselves
… we'll need outside resources and that will have to be funded
… then we can move forward with a selection process

Sheila: we could discuss next steps
… I know a couple of trainers who might have this in their offerings
… but I want to know everyone's preferences before I reach out to them

Tzviya: international-ness is one of our expectations
… but W3C is not unique there; many corporations have international ombuds
… maybe we need to draft an RFP for ombuds training
… I can start a draft and share it with those who have more idea of what ombuds training involves
… what about the conflict de-escalation training?

Ralph: Jory had prototyped such training with the Team and we'd collected some feedback
… I lost track of where that stands

Tzviya: I talked with Jory a few months ago. She would like to work on that but is very busy
… and WendyR had some ideas about some practical training
… I think our next job is working on this
… also we've been asked to work on CEPC to include consequences
… we can resume that in January
… we won't meet on Dec 28
… Liz has been working on disciplinary action and consequences to add to CEPC
