ch: updated goals, comments from Jeanne, replied in doc
first draft of master list complete
started looking into new research in intersectional needs between disability and race
think that needs bringing into our thinking
<Joshue108> git it
ja: exploring relationship of guidelines, user needs, scoring
as part of a user need functional outcome framework
pretty complex
have discussed conclusions with Michael and Jeanne
Jeanne likes it but wants fast results and a simple scoring proposal
not having complete framework but already talking about conformance and scoring is a challenge
today started new experiment ^
I´d like to work from a complete user needs list
what Charles has done is looking pretty good
want to think through how we create functional outcomes and how they relate to guidelines
for now using color contrast as an experiment / way of thinking through
guidelines -> user needs -> functional outcomes -> methods
and tags
tried to fit into the adjectival rating approach
pretty difficult, pandora´s box
worked into method
adjectival ratings kinda map to the conformance levels in WCAG 2
instead of having boundary at a certain level, we have 5 to play with
using current WCAG criteria for now
ultimately a group of functional outcomes would be a guideline
will need to think how functional outcomes come from user needs
joc: how do functional outcomes relate to general requirements?
<deferrred>
ch: there is a draft definition of functional outcomes
df: think we´re asking too much out of the scoring proposal
think maturity model allows us to pull in the needs coming from other subgroups
and tie back to scoring

MC: We agreed to bi weekly calls
Should it be weekly?
+1 to weekly
<CharlesHall> +1
David - if I get a heads up.
MC: Ok - lets do that.
... I wanted to discuss how this relates to the work of other
groups
We need to decide what our deliverables are
And when Silver will deliver that.
Also how it relates to other way work.
Charles has good user needs and goals that we should look at.
DOn't have much time at the mo.
But would like Charles to present that work.
What are we producing? Master list of functional needs is one.
SOme of Jakes work is integrated with deliverables in this group.
JOC: Can you explain?
Jake is using functional needs and mapping them to units of Silver and units of Silver COnformance
MC: ANy disaagreement that the natural list of functional needs is a deliverable.
<no>
JA: Is it on your radar, or supposed after master list of user needs that the group will be focussing on out comes and mapping them to use list?
MC: I guess both
Many to many relationship
Charles?
<CharlesHall> roughly functional needs > {n} functional outcomes > {n} methods
CH: This is what I think
<Fazio> I wonder if outcomes differ by task
<Fazio> I suspect they might
MC: One to many - not many to many?
DF: If we are doing this by task like WCAG 3..
depending on task the outcomes may differ and will get super complicated
<MichaelC> https://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/task-forces/silver/wiki/Functional_Needs_Subgroup
MC: The Silver func needs wiki page, I'll add list of upcoming meetings with agenda
please add
Ok?
MC: Please send to the list, your thoughts and questions for us to consider before next meeting
Also Charles can you talk about goals and definitions..
CH: THe goals are at the top - to habe a working definiton for consensis for funtional needs and outcomes
Editorial method and style guide for describing functional needs
use / usage
Need to capture what has been considered
Unique context - for directional mapping => context => technologies
Outcome of work needs to be in evergreen doc that can be referenced by other groups
MC: Please comment on list etc.

Review goals and definitions
Review master list of functional needs
Raise questions in gdoc or mailing list
ja: need functional outcome to be more granular / specific
<CharlesHall> +1 to specificity, but that impacts scale
df: that´s why we have tasks
ja: not sure we´ll wind up there
need to think things through more
<CharlesHall> note: all of this is a draft to have this conversation
