We also have the ARIB liaison tickets to complete our iteration over, and TTML2 2nd Ed IR, 15:08:23 .. but I note that we have no Editor of IMSC or TTML2 present. 15:08:30 .. Any other business, or points to raise? 15:08:54 Topic: Where should "headers" go relative to the `WEBVTT` magic string? webvtt#485 15:08:59 github: https://github.com/w3c/webvtt/issues/485 15:09:12 Gary: We discussed this last week. We put it back on this week because Roger Pantos, 15:09:27 .. the main editor of HLS, replied saying that they should specify the header location in HLS. 15:09:51 .. I kinda agree with him except that there are some feature requests for WebVTT for the 15:10:06 .. future that might use headers. We don't want to be in a situation where there are 15:10:20 .. incompatible header specifications in different specs. At the same time, until we add 15:10:30 .. features that use headers I'm not sure that WebVTT should describe what headers are. 15:10:37 q+ 15:10:47 ack ni 15:11:04 Nigel: I agree with the concern that incompatible definitions would be a bad thing. 15:11:22 .. Since WebVTT previously defined this, I think it would make sense at least for WebVTT 15:11:39 .. to define header conceptually even if with a note saying it isn't directly used by WebVTT 15:11:53 .. yet, but may be in the future, and is available as an extension point for other uses. 15:13:20 Gary: Yes, actually having it as an extension/feature and calling it out as that makes sense. 15:13:25 .. I hadn't thought of that as a possibility. 15:13:44 .. Then HLS could potentially still specify it but also still point to WebVTT. 15:13:51 .. We could also try going with the most minimal definition of header. 15:14:26 .. As I said last time, it was removed because someone was asking for clarification of usage, 15:14:40 .. and it was removed rather than trying to iron out the issues. We either need to iron 15:14:49 .. out the issues or pare down the definition so it doesn't really matter. 15:14:56 Nigel: Makes sense to me. 15:15:50 Gary: I'll take a look at that as Editor. 15:16:43 .. I'll try to reply to the HLS mailing list (I have to join it first!) 15:17:56 SUMMARY: @gkatsev to draft pull request bringing pared-down header definition back into WebVTT. 15:18:24 Topic: IMSC 1.2 PR Published 15:18:52 Nigel: We published the PR on 16th June. 15:18:56 -> https://www.w3.org/TR/2020/PR-ttml-imsc1.2-20200616/ IMSC 1.2 PR 15:19:17 .. Need to make the group aware of some late changes. 15:19:32 .. First the link to Liberation Mono fonts no longer worked so had to be changed. 15:20:02 .. Second, the URLs to EBU specs seem to be wrong. There was an email thread with 15:20:19 .. Frans from EBU who advised us. This change has not yet been made but I believe we can 15:20:34 .. make it prior to Rec publication, since it is only URLs that are changing, not the referenced 15:20:38 .. documents themselves. 15:20:55 .. That's w3c/imsc#561. 15:21:13 .. Also the BBC's AC rep, Chris Needham proposed some editorial changes to the Changes 15:21:25 .. section to clarify them. They are in w3c/imsc#560. 15:21:45 .. I am not expecting any process issue with those changes. 15:24:56 Topic: CSS font-matching algorithm may introduce fingerprinting issues w3c/ttml2#1202 (PING review) 15:25:07 github: https://github.com/w3c/ttml2/issues/1202 15:25:22 Nigel: Just to note I did contact PING last week after the call and have not had a reply yet. 15:25:48 .. Aside from that I'd note that we have no proposals on the table for resolving the impasse. 15:26:01 .. The proposal from PING has objections from TTWG, and the proposal from TTWG that 15:26:11 .. has consensus seems to have an objection from PING! 15:26:42 .. I would really appreciate any other proposals if anyone can contribute them. 15:27:41 SUMMARY: Awaiting PING response to the Chair, other proposals for resolving this issue are welcome. 15:27:46 github-bot, end topic 15:28:02 s/github-bot, end topic// 15:28:14 github-bot-, end topic 15:30:09 (congrats) 15:33:00 Topic: Meeting close 15:33:37 Nigel: We've completed our agenda for today, so I'll adjourn until next week.
