<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> scribe: MarkWilcock
Lisa: So we will start.
... There has been discussion in the space around WCAG e.g.
Silver because of the objections made to WCAG 2.1 and people
are looking for ideas about the impact of participation.
... One idea is that the charter of WCAG needs to change,
importantly it doesn't state about meeting the users needs, I
think the first thing I wanted to suggest very strongly that
the charter is change to meet the user needs at a minimum level
of all the groups.
John: You have brought up before about changing the language before, can you summaries the reaction we got?
Lisa: If we agree that this is a priority to change, we need to keep an eye on the discussion about the charter when it opens
User: Did someone not draft a change to the charter?
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> ACTION: lisa make document for pillers/ areas that we would like to see changes
<trackbot> Created ACTION-262 - Make document for pillers/ areas that we would like to see changes [on Lisa Seeman-Kestenbaum - due 2018-02-15].
Lisa: Not that I recall. One area
is the charter, another area is tracking participation and if
COGA members aren't joining, why, and try solve these issue as
to increase participation.
... For example are people having trouble completing the CFCs,
are people finding these difficult?
John: Yeah, often the time constraints.
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> sometime it doesnt even work
John K: Often understanding the entire landscape and how the W3C works.
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> sometimes ipeople say it is covered and it was not, but it shut s up
John: The resistance we are trying to do is intimidating, I don't want to engage with people as their minds are already made up.
Lisa: So what do you think we can
be changed? What mechanisms, changes etc. help us participate
and convert the users needs.
... Maybe we give them the users needs and allow them to come
up with the solutions etc. and we can vet these
... I think we need to come out with a list of issues and
solutions

John: Using inaccessible platforms is not ideal, but we fall foul to that as well within the COGA TF
Lisa: We have been trying to address these in this document.
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> Make the purpose of your page clear through:
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> A clear title or heading that summarizes the purpose of a page, or
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> Breadcrumbs that clarify what you are doing, or
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> Other clear signposts that have been tested by users with cognitive disabilities.
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> This benefits many people including people with a weak memory or anyone who is easily distracted. This includes people with age appropriate forgetfulness, or ADD.
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> For example, someone with mild dementia is using online shopping. They get distracted and then when they look at the screen again they have forgotten what they were doing. Put a clear heading at the top of each page that seas clearly what the page is and what they are doing.
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> Always use breadcrumbs in tasks with a few steps. Breadcrumbs should include, steps completed, current step and steps pending.
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> Add picture -success heading
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> Add picture -success breadcrums
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> Add failure
Lisa: This is the template we are
trying to use for each item.
... We should do an edit of the roadmap to make it easier to
understand
... John do you want to read over the roadmap?
John: Sure I will create a simpler version of the roadmap

<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> https://rawgit.com/w3c/coga/master/gap-analysis/table.html
Lisa: This is the first document we need to change, its got a whole table of user needs and these are the new ones, so these need to be included and the other issue we have issue papers written we have not included, so this is the first problem
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WcfVALVq8PS9CLXUuAfV9Op0wXvI2yJYedj5jO23GTk/edit#
Lisa: What I was thinking I can work on the editorial bits and go through the edits in regards to W3C
Jan: I think we need to review so that we publish high quality material
Lisa: I will ask for the Gap analysis to be reviewed
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> action, lisa make a google docs to vet the tables, and other items
<LisaSeemanKestenbaum> ACTION: lisa make a google docs to vet the tables, and other items for the gap anlis publication
