<eparsons> RESOLVED: Accept last meeting minutes

<phila> RESOLUTION: Accept last meeting minutes
eparsons discusses the joint IP regualtions- see the link
Preparation for the f2f meeting-- what's the best approach to use the meeting time
<phila> The start time in Sapporo in your time zone is as shown at http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=SDW+WG+F2F&iso=20151026T09&p1=622&ah=8
the proposal is to use the meeting to get more concrete work done on Best Practice document
one reason for this is the time zone - it will be mid-night/early morning in EU/US and it would be difficult to dial-in/join via webex
<phila> phila: Points to the time and date link http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=SDW+WG+F2F&iso=20151026T09&p1=622&ah=8
frans: likes the idea of editing the document during the meeting; asking how the document is going to be edited during the meeting?
eparsons: we'll probably use online editing tools (Google doc or other similar method);
ChrisLittle: there is a summary session during the f2f meeting (the last day)- that session can be used to update remote participants
eparsons: good idea- will try
<Zakim> phila, you wanted to talk about other stuff around our meeting
<frans> Will all BP editors be present in Sapporo?
eparsons: Best Practice is probably the best topic to work on during the f2f meeting
phila: Kerry is suggesting to
have a joint working meeting between this group and web of
things working group
... The joint meeting will be on the Wednesday during the
meeting
... next TPAC meeting will be in Lisbon
<phila> TPAC 2016 19-23 September, Lisbon Congress Centre
<frans> yay! Lisbon
<ChrisLittle> Hi Linda!
<frans> Thank you Linda!
Linda is the new co-editor of the Best Practice document
thanks Linda
https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/wiki/Linked-data
<kerry> Payam: more information to add to document -- wnat to hear from everyone
<kerry> ... 5 or 6 questions posted to list
<kerry> ... responses have been summarised at that url above
<kerry> ...if your point has been missed please speak up!
<kerry> ... 2nd item was discussed a lot
<kerry> ... how we should use URIs, what type, do they carry meaning?
<kerry> .... is that an important thing that needs to be added to best practice? mostly between jon and Chris
<kerry> .. frans said something about reference geo-data like goenames, dbpedia
<kerry> ... frans can you check pls?
<kerry> ..3rd question what do the links mean?
<kerry> .... not much follow up here -- would like more
<frans> I had a general impression that ¨linking¨ in the discussion was not always limited to spatial data
<kerry> ... links may not be just in rdf
<kerry> ...not much discussion on last 3 topics
<kerry> ... again we link to postcodes saying where that postcode comes from...
<kerry> ... can I manage a set of links, not necessarily one at a time. Is there an existing solution?
<kerry> ... some discussioj on limks and relations ... should this be about interfaces for linking mechanisms or just how they should be described?
<ChrisLittle> This includes issue of aggregation - a real probelm.
<Zakim> phila, you wanted to talk about the IANA link registry
<kerry> ... please provide meore and we will inetgrate into main doc
<phila> http://www.iana.org/assignments/link-relations/link-rleations.xhtml
<AndreaPerego> http://www.iana.org/assignments/link-relations/
<kerry> phila: iana link relations register
phila: discusses the iana register http://www.iana.org/assignments/link-relations/link-relations.xhtml
<kerry> ... terms that go in rel attributes of html and also http headers
<kerry> ... defines relationship between your resource and the one you point to
<kerry> ... allens reltions etc could go into here -- surprisoing that not already there... we could add them this is our job!
phila: this can be helpful in defining the relationships and the work that this group does can be added to iana registry
<kerry> chirs: allens is time but RCC for space would be useful too
ChrisLittle: Allen's calculus is about time... space related one are in /
<joshlieberman> Could we return to the IANA topic briefly?
<frans> A good idea to look at the IANA link relations register. We should not forget that!
eparsons: on the 4th of November we are planning to change the time
thanks Kerry
joshliberman: discusses the relationship between resources
joshlieberman: the relationships that we are looking at are the relationships between the real world and resources (why these relationships are different from others)
eparsons: on the Web: the relationship between we pages reflect the relationship between the resources on the Web; on ur work this can be different.
phila: In GIS everything is about representation; in linked-data you mean the object/resource
<joshlieberman> http://example.org/thefeature vs http://example.org/thefeature# for example
<frans> I have high hopes that HttpRange-14 can be avoided.
<phila> Yes, that's one solution. But it doesn't work for everyone as # isn't trabsmitted over the wire
<phila> and that's how the conversation starts
<eparsons> http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=SDWWG+Call&iso=20151104T20&p1=1440&ah=1
eparsons: back to the time change: on the 4th of November we are planning to change the time
<phila> The history of HttpRange-14
evening time in Europe- Wednesdays
eparsons: we will send reminders before changing of the time
<eparsons> thanks phil - bye
eparsons: Kerry has worked on linking the UCR to Best Practice questions
Kerry: discusses the mapping
practice and using the UCR to do these mappings
... discusses mapping to external vocabularies
... are there any missing requirements?
... there seem to be one missing in the requirements
... Are we missing any requirements? The catch-all linkability
requirement could be taken to cover most of this theme.
Relative/locally contextual spatial relationships seems to have
been missed in requirements (surprising to me -- I thought it
was there, somewhere).
it is indeed helpful
eparsons: how can people contribute to Kerry's work?
<frans> Kerry: if you think there might be a missing requirement, could you send a message about that? The UCR editors should look in to that.
kerry: people can choose one topic (put your hands up to choose a topic) and work on it- it will be helpful if we can do this before the f2f meeting
<ahaller2> i can do one after next meeting
eparsons: volunteers for working on the sections?
<kerry> ACTION: ahaller to do a crossreferening requirements to bp task [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2015/10/07-sdw-minutes.html#action01]
<trackbot> Error finding 'ahaller'. You can review and register nicknames at <http://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/track/users>.
<ahaller2> assignment of identifiers to ‘real-world things’ & information resources, again, after next meeting
kerry: will send a message related to missing requirement
<eparsons> Next week look at remaining UCR issues.
frans: let us know if there is a
missing requirement
... some of the issues still don't have a related thread (frans
will create)
... will create email related to the issues (please prepare and
discuss the issues before the meeting next week)
semail threads/email threads
kerry: invite everyone to participate in this discussion
ChrisLittle: discusses the issue
related to SVG
... suggests if this topic should be discussed during the f2f
meeting
frans: this issue is related to
two of the UCR issues
... SVG is not just about rendering; it is also a mean to
encode spatial data- so it can be in the scope
eparsons: agrees- to spend some time on this topic
<kerry> +q
Kerry, I have to leave a bit early; can you take over?
kerry: maybe we should have a meeting with SVG group?
ChrisLittle: in short term will be out of scope for them- this could be our task within this group
<kerry> chris and kerry discuss having a meeting at saporo with svg
<kerry> ... decide not to as nothing useful to be done in sort term
<kerry> Ed: any other business?
<kerry> ... watch for email from frans with remaining use cases
<ChrisLittle> Bye and thanks Ed
thanks, bye
<kerry> ...meeting closed
<LarsG> Thx, bye
<joshlieberman> Thanks and bye
thank you kerry
