ISSUE-5: Is there a need to expand the available <button> types to include 'radio' or 'toggle'?
button-type-radio
Is there a need to expand the available <button> types to include 'radio' or 'toggle'?
- State:
- CLOSED
- Product:
- HTML 5 spec
- Raised by:
- Dan Connolly
- Opened on:
- 2007-11-08
- Description:
- This was raised at the W3C HTML WG meeting in Cambridge by Maciej Stachowiak during his "HTML+CSS as Flash Killer" presentation.
Currently there is no way to attach child content to an HTML radio <input> and the <button> element (which does allow child text nodes) does not have a matching type for similar interaction purposes. Because of this Maciej had to implement what seems like a basic toggling functionality in JavaScript.

not taking this up at this point because there has not been significant discussion on this list, no other WG asking for this
