Update on Calls for Consensus and publication processes.
Update on Calls for Consensus and publication processes.
JW: We have 2 CFCs out at the moment
positive responses
JS: Due to recent outages, should we extend CFC deadline?
Would that have an impact?
Q to Josh
JS: Messaging is fine. If there was a need for more time, is a 24 hour delay bad.
<jasonjgw1> Josh notes the tight publication schedule and the recent discussion of adding a few references to WAI resources to Accessibility of Remote Meetings.
http://
<jasonjgw1> Josh made some editorial improvements to the abstract of Natural Language Interfaces. Josh wants comments on any concerns.
JOC: I think we are good.
JOC: Acks Janinas feedback on NAUR
JW: I've an action and Josh will be busy *grin
JS: I'll send out decision email.
JW: People are responding.
JS: <Discusses managing consensus>
JW: We may get more.
JW: I'll work on this today
TPAC 2021 - any updates.
JW: I've not heard much new, anything?
JS: We do need to discuss COGA request for meeting with RQTF - it was planned for the 20th. A little earlier.
Can we do on the 27th?
SH: Q, have the timezones changed by then?
JS: That happens in November.
SN: Thats fine.
JW: Do they have agenda?
JS: They are doing literature review of mental health issues as a disability
JW: That is not entirely clear.
JW: Don't know what disability scholars have to say about it, could be interesting.
Anything else?
JS: That is the one thing they have, they may have others. I'll communicate this to you and Scott.
SH: In Australia there are debates around the nature of disability.
<janina> https://
Interesting.
JS: <Discusses Content Usable work>
It has good work, personas, and graphics - tells a good story.
There is an editors draft to up version it.
I did encourage them to push this during breakouts.
SH: What do they want to discuss with RQTF?
Inclusion of mental health in general work?
They may have something more specific. Make sense?
JS: Yes, I'm not clear
They want to expand scope.
Mental health as a disability that may impact how people interact with and use technology.
JS: The work statement needs to updated - not mentioned.
There are suggestions.
JW: Looks like we need to clarify agenda, and schedule us for the 27th.
SH: What do they see as the end game of this meeting?
JS: May be to have a better understanding of how to review literature and the what and how of accomodating mental health issues and the nexus with technology
<janina> https://
Mostly in the context of WCAG 3 - there may also be an update of content usable to encapsulate mental health
JS: I'm not well placed to make comments on these issues.
I don't think there are many, if any with this specific skillset to comment
I'm a little concerned - as I don't know who to ask.
JS: These are the issues that are of concern - we need to flag the methodology question.
SH: One of the challenges is diff between disability and health issue.
JW: Definitions would clarify
JW: Not sure how these things are characterised
JS: Another aspect is the FB kerfuffle..
<discussion of FB related issue de jour>
<Ongoing discussion on mental health, its place in the technical discussion>
SN: How will this inclusion affect disability guidelines?
JW: Lets do this on the 27th
JS: Ok, will let them know.
JS: We should get our schedule soon, after Oct 8th.
We wont meet during our usual time during TPAC right?
JW: So we have next week, as our last meeting pre TPAC.
We should have drafts on the way then.
Flash mitigation and other video/audio transformations enhancing accessibility.
JW: I've an update
I posted to list
https://
documenting issues related to media transformations
JS: We should come back to it this after TPAC?
We can work on this between meetings
questions?
JW: Lets revisit then
Miscellaneous topics.
JS: Regarding COGA, I have pasted in the reworked Work Statement COGA earlier
Anything to raise?
