paulc: done
<paulc> http://www.w3.org/2013/06/11-html-media-minutes.html
paulc: used these minutes to generate the agenda
paulc: none for MSE
<paulc> Latest Editor's draft: http://dvcs.w3.org/hg/html-media/raw-file/tip/media-source/media-source.html
paulc: spec hadn't been updated yesterday
<paulc> Current bug list: http://tinyurl.com/6pdnzej
adrianba: aaron had added PRE_LAST_CALL to the whiteboard field
<acolwell> PRE_LAST_CALL
adrianba: for all the bugs that
are pre-last call
... so the new bugs (about half) are last call comments
paulc: there are 7 pre last call bugs < 22148
<paulc> See http://tinyurl.com/q3do7nx
paulc: are you suggesting prioritising these?
adrianba: yes
<paulc> https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22148#c3
Bug 22148 - Request that we reconsider adding jitter to video quality metrics
acolwell: i need to look at it
some more but fine adding it for now
... not clear how this improves things but fine making the
change
... i'll update the text
paulc: for comment 3
Bug 22137 - changes in number of audio tracks during advert insertion
<paulc> Bug 22137 - changes in number of audio tracks during advert insertion
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22137
adrianba: jerry might have some questions on this
jdsmith: not clear the proposal makes switching deterministic and simple
acolwell: the idea is that if
there is a default track indicate in the init segment
... then you just pick the first default track for each
type
... first default video or first default audio
... if there is no default indicated then you pick the
first
... which tends to be the lowest track id but not always
jdsmith: will this be a good consistent experience
acolwell: i don't know - was a
proposal to address the concern without adding too much
complexity
... not clear what multi-track content is like
<paulc> Proposal is in https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22137#c3
jdsmith: need to do more research
on content to see how this works
... sounds like it would be deterministic but want to make sure
it is sensible
BobLund: consistent with MPEG2TS defines the lowest number first in the metadata (since there is no way to signal default)
<scribe> ACTION: jdsmith to review bug 22137 and provide feedback [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2013/06/25-html-media-minutes.html#action01]

https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22136
ACTION adrianba to work with jerry to confirm the proposal in 22136 is acceptable
<trackbot> Created ACTION-22 - Work with jerry to confirm the proposal in 22136 is acceptable [on Adrian Bateman - due 2013-07-02].
Bug 22135 - Changing Source Buffers
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22135
paulc: now resolved
Bug 22134 - When do multiple SourceBuffers have to be used
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22134
acolwell: think need to go through an be more explicit - need to go back and make more clear
ACTION acolwell to update spec for bug 22134 by the next call
<trackbot> Created ACTION-23 - Update spec for bug 22134 by the next call [on Aaron Colwell - due 2013-07-02].
Bug 22117 - Add a conformance section
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22117
paulc: Cyril says that he needs a little more time
acolwell: and i assigned the bug to him
<scribe> ACTION: Cyril to propose text for 22117 [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2013/06/25-html-media-minutes.html#action03]
<trackbot> Error finding 'Cyril'. You can review and register nicknames at <http://www.w3.org/html/wg/media/track/users>.
Bug 22112 - Merge appendBuffer and appendStream text
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22112
adrianba: haven't got to this yet - bug is assigned to me
Bug 22110 - Javascript decoding data
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22110
adrianba: fixed this morning
Bug 22109 - Use of the word sequence
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22109
acolwell: just need to sit down and think about again - didn't get to it
Bug 21431 - Specify splicing behavior for text tracks
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=21431
paulc: glenn responded and bug is
marked resolved, fixed
... we have 7 outstanding bugs and we know who is responsible
for each of them: jerry, adrian, aaron, and cyril
... once we have those fixed we will do CfC in TF to go to
LC
... suggest we use the rest of the time for the post pre-LC
bugs
Bug 22432 - Allow SourceBuffer.appendBuffer to take ownership of the ArrayBuffer
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22432
acolwell: think this is from
somebody at mozilla
... think i agree with this - so we don't have to do the
copy
<paulc> Suggestion: add wording similar to that added to Web Audio's decodeAudioBuffer method: https://dvcs.w3.org/hg/audio/rev/ef43ae5230bf
acolwell: are there other apis that do this?
adrianba: in two minds about
this: on the one hand this seems like a solution to a problem
that often happens with arraybuffers
... but on the other it's probably not something we're going to
do soon
... up to now we've assumed that changing the buffer while an
operation is happening is undefined
... and we might leave it that way so the spec reflects
reality
acolwell: okay, not sure if they will object to a resolution that the spec doesn't imply copying
paulc: adrianba, should you respond to the bug?
Bug 22431 - HTMLVideoElement.videoPlaybackQuality should be a live object rather than returning a new object
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22431
acolwell: this is the discussion
we had before about attribute vs. method
... i responded in the bug
... i don't feel strongly
paulc: maybe that will provoke a response in the bug
Bug 22430 - Handling multiple media element attachments
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22430
acolwell: believe we cover this case and it will probably be WONTFIX or WORKSFORME
Bug 22401 - [MSE]
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22401
acolwell: assigned to myself - editorial one word change
Bug 22371 - [MSE] Ogg byte streams
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22371
acolwell: will start by saying a
little biased against ogg but will try to be fair
... not sure if want to add another format to the spec
... but each format has a constituency
... wonder if now is a good time to specify a mechanism for
other formats
... so that we don't keep getting more and more added
... what do we want to do to stop bugs for everyone's favourite
format
paulc: there is a proposal in the bug too
acolwell: yes, i have comments on the text too
pal: is there any reason why additional formats couldn't be done in separate documents as long as MSE specifies what needs to be included
acolwell: that's the point i
think we're getting to
... we included formats originally to show how to support
MSE
... but this won't scale
... otherwise new formats will constantly block MSE getting
done
paulc: acolwell, you were talking about responding - was that about specific things
acolwell: there are some specific
things about the proposal
... but the other task is maybe to define what a bytestream
format spec looks like
... so we can provide a different place to put this than in the
main spec
paulc: could be an annexe in the MSE doc that says if you want to define a new format here is what you must and should do
acolwell: think we have the start
of that in the first part of this section
... we just don't say how you specify this
Bug 22329 - [MSE] TextTrack attributes settable in conflict with the html spec
https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22329
<paulc> Aaron's response is in https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22329#c1
acolwell: i responded a while ago saying this is intentional because we're extending for supporting DASH
paulc: suggest resolving WONTFIX
- person can reopen if they don't like the disposition
... we've gone through all the bugs
paulc: any other business?
... lots of actions assigned
paulc: adjourned
