<scribe> ScribeNick: aphillip
<scribe> ACTION: addison: invite Mark to participate in the calendaring call with an explanatory email [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2010/04/21-core-minutes.html#action01]
Aharon: send to our mail list list of issues ready for HTML-WG and list of issues to address in our document
richard: aharon sent me a list that was not complete but partial... let's discuss later
<scribe> DONE
addison: prepare blurb on -u- extension for i18n homepage
not done
Norbert: respond to DAP WG with a more comprehensive description of the problem of converting calendars and invite further conversation (shared telecon ??)
<scribe> DONE
ichard: write to html-wg expressing support for editor's changes and pointing out the oversight in description of <meta> C-L's structure
<scribe> DONE
<r12a> http://www.w3.org/International/tests/tests-html-css/list-encoding-html-css
richard: set of new tests (see
above link)
... for character encodings
<r12a> http://www.w3.org/International/tests/tests-html-css/list-language
richard: and a list of rewritten
tests for language delcarations
... now includes tests for empty language value
... could be useful in our discussions with Leif et al
... IE and FF override properly, while Safari et al do not
richard: results for all of the
major browsers
... tests now include HTML5 and XHTML5

<scribe> ACTION: addison: write email to public-html endorsing richard's response (and IanH's proposal deprecating Content-Language) as the WG position [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2010/04/21-core-minutes.html#action02]
richard: Aharon has done appreciable
work on a list of issues for HTML
... maybe we should just have notes in the document
... instead of a list
addison to ping Aharon for status update
addison recognizes David Clarke's email
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/member-i18n-core/2010Apr/0004.html
add to agenda for next week
richard: working on it
again
... working on tests has helped me get a handle on what is
supported, etc.
... one thing I'm going to say, I think are....
... the BOM works and HTML5 allows it to work
... and it takes precendence (I will say also declare for
usability)
... I will wind down significance of avoiding BOM
addison: maybe deemphasize, but don't eliminate recommendation against BOM?
richard: another thing that will
change is emphasis on avoiding xml document declaration
... only legacy browsers are a problem here (IE 6
basically)
... so level of worry not that high any more
norbert: but yahoo finds that's not quite true yet
richard: already took out section
on quirks mode
... reduced to just a couple of paragraphs
... will send out pretty soon for review
